Alex comes with a strong background in treating children and gum disease. Graduating in 2004 and completing post graduate studies at The University of Melbourne she has extensive experience to help you get the smile you have always desired.
After living and working in the Goldfields for over 14 years she calls the red dirt city home and wanted to bring a locally family owned and operated clinic to the Goldfields. When she isn’t at work Alex likes to spend time with her beautiful family. She has 5 children three boys 10, 8 and 4 years old plus two girls 6 and 2 years old.

Dr O’Dowling graduated from University College Cork, Ireland in 2006 where his studies saw him awarded the Noel Hayes Award for Oral Surgery, the British Undergraduate Society Award for Restorative Dentistry and was accepted as a member of the Student Clinicians of the American Dental Association for his project work on molar/incisor hypomineralisation.
He has worked in private practice in Ireland , Queensland and Perth. During this time he has continued to advance his knowledge in implant surgery and prosthetics and completed his MSc Oral Implantology in 2018 from Goethe Dental School (Frankfurt), his thesis being ‘’ in vitro comparison of the accuracy of implant surgical guides produced by desktop printers versus commercially produced guides ‘ . He is a Diplomate of both the International Congress Of Oral Implantologists and the American Board of Oral Implantology/ Implant Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.
Dr O’Dowling maintains a keen interest in all aspects of implantology ranging from simple implant placement to advanced techniques such as partial extraction therapy, autogenous bone plates and sinus augmentations. His current focus is simplification of full arch restorative protocols utilising digital techniques and 3d printing.
Raised in Kathmandu, Nepal, even during his teenage years Dr. Sush volunteered in local hospitals as well as remote villages as part of medical aid. He found out during these times that the ability to help people was his main motivation for becoming a dentist. Dentistry has allowed Dr. Sush, to combine three of his biggest interests: working with his hands, dental science and helping others. Known for his caring and laidback nature, Dr. Sush believes that healthy teeth promote a healthy life and having an opportunity to help people maintain their smile, relieve their pain or improving their oral health is the most rewarding part of his job.
Dr. Sush is constantly striving to be the best version of himself every day and has completed various courses in restorative, fixed/removable prosthesis as well as sedation so that he can provide the best dental service to his clients. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and spending time in the garden.
Liam graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (UK) in 2015 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree. He has worked in a range of private practices in the UK and New Zealand since then. Liam’s gentle demeanor and friendly approach keep visits to the dentist as comfortable and worry-free as possible.
He has a love for the technology and advanced skills that are developed in dentistry and is proud of what Goldfields Family Dental have to offer. Currently, Liam is studying on a postgraduate diploma in dental implantology.
Outside of work you may find him relaxing at the gym or struggling up the climbing wall.
Alex graduated with honours from Newcastle-upon-Tyne (UK) in 2017. She has since spent time in New Zealand before heading to Kalgoorlie. Alex is known by her patients for being gentle and understanding. She enjoys getting patients to a stage where they are comfortable with their teeth. Whilst confident in all aspects of general dentistry, her interests include aesthetic work and implants.
Outside of work Alex enjoys playing Xbox and eating ice cream.
Edelyn is an oral health therapist with over 16yrs of experience, known for her gentle touch and caring nature. She is dedicated to ensuring every patient feels safe, supported, and understood throughout their visit.
With a strong passion for teaching, Edelyn loves empowering families with the knowledge and advice to care for their smiles at home. Her commitment to education extends beyond the clinic—she is also a choir mentor with a deep love for teaching music.
A busy mum of three kids, Lyn enjoys spending time in nature and discovering unique activities in the places her family explores while travelling.
In 2010, Nick graduated from the University of Otago and spent his first few years in a bustling private clinic in Melbourne. Then, he moved to Dunedin and in2024 and worked there for 10years before relocating himself and his family to Kalgoorlie.
Nick aims to provide a top-level of care in an efficient and stress-free environment. Nick has experience in all aspects of general dental care but has special interests in the fields of endodontics (root canals) and crown and bridge dentistry.
Outside of work, Nick’s family of three young boys keeps him busy. He enjoys outdoor pursuits such as running and snowboarding in the winter and golf.
Shawnee is an Oral Health Therapist originally from New Zealand, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science in Oral Health from Auckland University of Technology.
She has an interest in preventive dentistry and supporting patients to maintain their oral health through education and ongoing care. Shawnee has experience working in community-based settings and has a particular interest in children’s dental care, focusing on creating positive early dental experiences and encouraging healthy habits.
Shawnee also enjoys working with adult patients to provide preventive treatment and oral health education tailored to individual needs.
Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, staying active, and spending time outdoors with her partner and their dog.
Nyasha graduated from the University of Plymouth (UK) with a BSc Dental Therapy and Dental Hygiene degree.
She has experience in various dental settings including Special Care Dentistry which has helped her develop skills working with anxious patients. She is committed to empowering patients of all ages through education, believing that understanding oral health is key to maintaining a healthy smile. Nyasha takes pride in building trust with her patients and tailoring care to meet individual needs.
In her spare time she enjoys travelling, exploring new cuisines and experiences, and engaging in arts and crafts.
With more than 30 years in dentistry and over 20 years as a Specialist Orthodontist, Dr Gavin brings an incredible depth of experience to our team and to every smile he treats.
Dr Gavin has practised in the UK, Canada, New Zealand and most recently Bermuda, where he spent several years in private orthodontic practice. He has also taught both undergraduate and postgraduate students and has a keen interest in mentoring early-career clinicians.
Dr Gavin is known for his thoughtful, thorough approach to orthodontics and his ability to support patients through complex or multi-phase treatment plans. He works with children, teens and adults to help them achieve long-term, healthy results and the kind of confidence that comes with loving your smile.
When he’s not in clinic, he’s usually outdoors with his wife Susan, or keeping up with his two grown-up kids – Aislin, a chemical engineer, and Myles, a physiotherapy student.
Joon has worked in the dental industry for 25 years in the public, private and education sectors.
Early on, Joon trained and worked at the Sydney Dental Hospital as a Dental Technician where he worked and learnt from the Specialist Prosthodontists. He then completed his clinical qualifications in 2008 where he went into private practice working for himself and in group practices in Sydney and Perth.
Joon has also lectured in the Diploma of Dental Technology and Advanced Diploma of Dental Prosthetics at TAFE NSW and is currently the Chair of the Local Area Committee for the WA branch of the ADPA (Australian Dental Prosthetists’ Association)
Joon has a keen interest in educating future Dental Technicians and Prosthetists while also gaining knowledge and skill in digital dentures and utilising 3D printing for dentistry.
On his days off, you will find Joon tinkering with his car, forever renovating his office, hogging the couch watching tv or enjoying time off with his family.
