You have recently completed active orthodontic treatment, and we are pleased to have supported you through this stage of care. Every effort has been made to address the original treatment goals, including good function, optimal aesthetics and maximum stability.
You are now entering an important phase of treatment known as the Retention Phase. Completing orthodontic treatment does not guarantee that your teeth will remain perfectly straight for life. Teeth can naturally shift over time and may tend to move back towards their original positions.
We will continue to monitor you during the retention period for 12 months. Once this retention observation period has ended, your orthodontic status can continue to be monitored at an additional cost.
Retainers are required to help keep your teeth in their new positions. They are an important part of treatment and play a key role in supporting the stability of your result.
Regular retainer wear is recommended for life, as the body continues to grow and change over time. Minor irregularities, particularly in the lower front teeth, can still occur. In summary, retainers help keep your teeth as straight as possible, although some slight movement may still happen even with good retainer wear.
Your retainers are made using high quality materials. If a retainer is lost or damaged, please contact our clinic as soon as possible to arrange an appointment. A replacement fee will apply for each new retainer.
In some cases, further treatment may be required due to unexpected growth or inconsistent retainer wear. If this occurs, additional treatment fees may apply.
